Whilst making a booking on our website, we indicate how names are to filled out. Name corrections are sometimes needed, but are subject to very strict limitations and (high) costs, as set by airlines. Sometimes name corrections are not allowed at all by the airline.
Airlines use standard notation without spaces or punctuation, as stated in the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) of your passport (see the example with red indicator below).
Name corrections are not needed if:
- Only your 'first' first name is needed to travel (as written in your passport). Any subsequent names are not needed to travel, as there are limitations to the amount of characters on your ticket.
- There always is an abbreviation like MR, MRS, MISS or MSTR directly after your name. This indicates your gender, as sometimes required by the airline.

*The Machine Readable Zone is marked as P < COUNTRYCODE LASTNAME << FIRSTNAME < ADDITIONAL < NAMES. Only the last name field and first name field are required on the ticket to travel.
Still need a correction to your name?
All name corrections must be requested online via MyTrips and cannot be requested via phone or e-mail (due to nature of making mistakes).
After submitting your request, we will check all options and costs with the airline. This might take some time, as airlines thoroughly check all conditions. The airline also often requests additional information, such as copy passports, marriage certificates and other official documents.
If the name correction request is approved by the airline, you will receive an e-mail with a pay link for the total change fees. After payment, we will work to get your request processed with the airline.
If your name correction request is denied by the airline, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do for you, as these are the airlines' policies. If you have any complaints on this, please reach out to the airline. We are not a party in their conditions.
