How to use Flexible Ticket Insurance?

The Flexible Ticket insurance can be additionaly bought during booking. It allows to claim back (a part of) change fees, if policy conditions are met.

You always first pay for the flight change yourself. Afterwards, you can submit a claim with the insurer (Europ Assistance). Be sure to always read the policy and its conditions carefully, before proceeding with any changes. The insurer sent this policy to you via e-mail shortly after booking.

Note: This insurance only allows one change of the travel date only, up to 60 days earlier or later than originally booked. The route and passengers must remain the same at all time.

How to change my booking using Flexible Ticket Insurance?
Check the change conditions in your ticket e-mail or on your personal profile MyTrips. It will show one of two options below:

1. Your booking is changeable
Always request the change via MyTrips. More information on the change procedure can be found on this page. Once you have received the updated tickets, you can start your claim with the insurer.

2. Your booking is non-changeable
More often, tickets cannot be changed, as per airlines' (ticket) conditions. If so, you must make a new booking on our website, pay the fees, and then submit your claim with the insurer. Be aware of 3 situations:

  • Change both bounds (outbound flight + inbound back)
Contact us to cancel your existing flights. You will receive a cancellation confirmation. Then make your new booking on our website. You will receive your new ticket(s) via e-mail.

  • Change the inbound only (flights back)
If you want to change the flight(s) back only, you can book a oneway flight on our website. Does the insurer request proof that the original flight back was unused? Please request it after the original flights are flown.

  • Change the outbound only (outgoing flights)
If you want to change the outgoing flight(s) only, make sure to always contact us first. We’ll discuss your best option. Never just skip the original outgoing flight(s), as the airline might automatically cancel your flight(s) back and you'll lose the right to travel on the original booking.

Submit your claim to the insurer.
Once you have received your changed/new tickets, start your claim with the insurer. You’ll need the following documents:

  • Policy number: This is the same number as your TripID (top right in our emails).
  • Your original booking confirmation
  • If you were able to change your original booking:
    • The payment link email with the change fees and the flights to be changed + the new ticket email showing your changed flights.
  • If you had to make a new booking:
    • The booking confirmation of the newly purchased booking, showing the paid amount at the bottom. This can also be found in MyTrips. No invoices are needed.

Normally no invoices are needed. If the insurer still requests any documents, please contact us.

Conditions
For all exact conditions and claim processing, we refer to the insurer Europ Assistance. Even in the case of denied claims, you must contact the insurer, as we do not have any insight in the claim process. The insurer’s (policy) conditions are always binding.
